Do I need planning permission for solar panels in Bath or Bristol?

Most homes can install solar panels without planning permission under permitted development rules. Listed buildings, and some homes in conservation areas or Bath’s World Heritage Site, may need consent, especially where panels would be visible from the street. We’ll check your property’s status during your free survey and handle any applications for you. Battery storage like the Tesla Powerwall is usually installed indoors or out of sight, so it rarely needs permission.
