Excellent from start to finish. Professional, clear advice, honest interactions. Went away to find answers if they weren't sure. Once we chose them, good service continued, workmen all very polite and clean and knowledgeable. Turn up on time and do a good job. Leave you with a great system working as it should. Could not be happier.

This was a fairly complex project - five properties in total with two electricity meters. We had solar panels fitted with Naked Solar 8 years ago so I contacted them again for a second set of solar panels and 3 batteries. I also went out to a couple of other suppliers for quotes. Naked Solar were the only company who came back to me and were happy to deliver on such a complex job. It's been done so swiftly and efficiently. I've worked with several members of the team and found without exception that they are knowledgeable, professional, polite and fun. Special mentions to Zoe, Matt, Neil, Luke, Cav, Gary, and Reece. Thanks so much!

We made a decision to have solar panels fitted around 2016 just after we had had tens of thousands stolen by a rogue builder so put the company through a grilling. They endured this with grace, we went ahead and what a joy this company has been ever since. They have tracked the system noting problems which are attended to with alacrity. Since then I find myself alone, unknowing and useless at the mystical workings of these things and my mainly dumb queries are answered with kindness and patience. I decided to have a battery system fitted this, this was the only I wanted to approach and once again, the whole thing has been attended to with kindness, good humour, excellent work practices and a seemingly unending amount of patience. They can tell me if something isn’t right, guide me through setting up charging periods all with the patience of saints. I like buying local, and have been rewarded time and again by this company whose determination to do things right make things right and deliver the right service continues ad infinitum.

We recently had 19 solar panels and a Tesla battery installed by Naked Solar and couldn’t be happier with the service from start to finish. Communication throughout the whole process with Zoe was excellent — everything was explained clearly and thoroughly, and we always felt well informed. The reporting and documentation provided were detailed and professional, which gave us real confidence in the installation. The installation team were polite, tidy, and respectful at all times, and the whole project ran smoothly and seamlessly from beginning to end. We would highly recommend Naked Solar to anyone considering solar and battery installation.

After a couple of disappointing experiences with other suppliers, it was refreshing to discover Naked Solar. From the first conversation with Joe, through to the survey, installation and follow-up, the service has been exceptional. They take care of every detail, and the installation team were punctual, tidy, and completed all the work to a high standard. Our system (20 panels and 18kWh Sigenstor battery storage) is already saving us a small fortune, and will save more once we get registered for grid supply. I can't recommend Naked Solar's accounts and installation teams enough, and would be delighted to provide them with a glowing reference at any time.

Serving Devon from our Installation Hub in Exeter

Chris, a homeowner in Topsham, took back control of rising energy costs with a stunning in-roof solar array that blends seamlessly into his home’s architecture while providing clean, independent power.

Naked Solar transformed this Rewe residence into a fortress of energy resilience by pairing advanced solar technology with the instant backup power of a Tesla Powerwall 3 – to protect against regular powercuts.

Naked Solar installed this solar Array at a picturesque location in Salcombe. A ballasted system was used to maximise generation of this flat-roofed space. A Tesla Powerwall 3 was also installed at the property to maximise energy independence.

We were proud to be a trusted partner in Plymouth Marjon University commitment to the ‘Majon Zero‘ sustainability strategy. We installed Solar Panels across multiple buildings on campus, contributing to Marjon’s goal of net-zero by 2030.

Exete, Devon Solar Panels - Frequently Asked Questions

How much do solar panels cost in Devon?
Every roof and energy goal is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all price. We treat each installation as a bespoke design project, so your system is tailored to your property and how you use energy, rather than copied from your neighbour’s. For a rough idea of costs, take a look at our regularly updated pricing guide. When you’re ready for more detail, our team will provide a transparent, itemised quote with no obligation. Get in touch to start your design.
How much can I save with solar panels in Devon?
Solar is one of the most effective and reliable ways to cut your energy bills, and Devon benefits from some of the highest solar gain in the UK. Your exact savings will depend on your roof and energy habits, but in 2025 Naked Solar customers achieved an average annual bill reduction of 65%. Adding battery storage lets you use more of your own energy after dark, and many local homeowners are seeing even greater energy independence as a result.
Are solar panels worth it in Devon?
Absolutely. The South West is one of the best places in the UK for solar generation, receiving significantly more solar irradiance than northern regions. Even when the classic Devon mizzle sets in, modern solar panels still capture diffused daylight and generate meaningful energy for your home or business.
Do solar panels work well in Exeter’s weather?
Yes. Solar panels are highly effective in Exeter, and Devon consistently ranks among the top UK regions for solar potential. Solar PV relies on light rather than heat, so Exeter’s high levels of solar irradiance make it a prime location for generating energy. Today’s panels also keep generating on overcast days by capturing diffused daylight.
Where in Devon do Naked Solar install solar panels?
Naked Solar install solar panels and battery storage across all of Devon from our Installation Hub at Sowton Industrial Estate in Exeter. We regularly work in Exeter, Plymouth, Exmouth, Topsham, Crediton, Tiverton, Newton Abbot, Torbay, Barnstaple and the South Hams, from rural farmhouses on Dartmoor to coastal homes in Salcombe.

Our Exeter Hub team also covers South Somerset and West Dorset.

Not sure whether we reach you? Enter your postcode on our quote page and we’ll confirm.
Do I need planning permission for solar panels in Devon?
In most cases, no. Solar installations usually fall under Permitted Development. However, Devon has many Conservation Areas, National Landscapes (formerly Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and listed buildings, particularly around Dartmoor and the South Hams, where different rules can apply. As local experts, we carry out the feasibility checks for you, so your installation meets all local authority requirements.
Can solar and battery storage keep my power on during a power cut?
With the right setup, yes. Batteries with backup capability, such as the Tesla Powerwall 3 and Sigenergy SigenStor, can automatically keep your home running when the grid goes down. That’s why it’s a popular choice in more rural parts of Devon. For one homeowner in Rewe, we paired solar with a Powerwall 3 to protect against regular power cuts.
